Q: 350Z or Audi tt 3.2 quattro or Camaro z28/ss or other?
alright, I'm going to be buying a used car sometime in the next few months and was wondering what would be the best car for me and my driving stlye. OK, i need something really quick with excellent control and traction and can NEVER lose stability. I am in a good situation right now where I have a few choices for really good deals on cars. I have the ability to get a used:
350Z w/ around 70,000 miles for $12-14,000
04 Audi tt 3.2 quattro w/ around 70,000 for $15-17,000 (a lil too much)
98-02 Camaro Z28/SS w/ around 70,000 for $12,000
Now, My type of car is a 2dr hardtop (coupe), (a targa top is fine, just no convertibles) and it has to be extremely quick and safe. Also, it has to be an automatic, because when I'm in certain "situations" I need to get away and dissapear super fast and do not have time to be changing gears or even looking to see what gear I am in. I need something that has extremly good handling and stopping power and will NOT lose control. I also need to be pretty fast when in a straightaway, but handling is more important.
I like the audi 3.2 quattro even though it is a little more then I am willing to spend. (I'd like to spend no more then $13,000 for a car with no more then 80,000 miles). I like it because it's AWD, it's super quick, and it's an extremely nice car(also it has a much better interior), and it's won't lose control easily even when the road is a little wet.
The Camaro is the fastest car out of these but I don't know how the handling will be because I know that these things are tail happy, I don't know how much traction control will help it on a tight windy road.
Same thing goes for the 350Z except it's just a tad slower then the Camaro LS1.
So...What car should I get, and if you have any suggestion to a different car, please let me know, thanks.

A: From a female perspective... :)
Go for the Audi.
American cars are great in a straight line, but no good for the great curving roads we have in Australia.
I don't care what anyone else says, 350Z's are ugly. And they are a dime a dozen. They are also very slow.
The quattro is a "road & rally" car. Great for "fun" driving, going off road.
But then again, those three cars are very distinctly different types of car.
Personally I'd buy an Evo :) Even the earlier versions are better than most new cars on the road today.
Q: Anyone know anything about the 2000-2001 Audi TT 180 quattro?
I am thinking about buying one and I want to know if there is a difference in the body style for the year 2000-2001 and if anyone has had any major problems with it.
A: That is a sweet car, and destined to be a classic in the future. The new version is NOT good.
If it's in good shape, and you have it checked out BEFORE buying it(not by the person selling it), then I say go for it.
Q: im debating whether to buy a 350z...tiburon gt...or a audi tt 1.8t roadster quattro?
im going to be buying another car soon, i am looking at an 04 stock 350z, a new 08 tiburon gt, or a 04 audi tt 1.8t roadster quattro.. i am looking for the best car, one with a lot of pep, power, overall speed, and reliability. which one would be best
A: The 350Z would be the most reliable of the bunch, quality Japanese engineering with reasonable parts costs (relative to the Audi). The Tiburon GT is not in the same league as the Audi or the 350Z. Good luck!
Q: BMW 335i coupe or Audi TT 3.2 Quattro S-Tronic coupe? which would you have?
I know the Audi is not really on the same level performance wise as the BMW but BMW's are so common and the Audi is much better looking. what are your thoughts?
A: the audi.
the audi has a more of a euro feel to it, and the torque makes it so much fun to drive. you dont see one on every corner, so it makes it seem all the more spectacular. They're super relialbe, easy to mod. and safe for the most part
the BMW is also a good choice, but that model is totally overstocked and everyoen has it in southern california.
Q: High Mileage Audi TT 1.8L Quattro turbo?
Hey guys, I'm getting a audi tt with 140,000 miles on it for about 7,500. Is that a good idea based on the mileage and experience with audi tt problems?
A: not really those was known for turbo problems if you decide on getting it have a mechanic look it over before you buy it,if the seller wants to sell it bad enough they wont mind you having this done,it may be a good car ,but the mileage is high on it and the price is a little to much for the mileage, good luck with it.
Q: Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro Question about accelaration in 0-60 ( 0-100 kms/h )?
Ok Audi sites clearly states that this new model ( note that this is the 2.0 Quattro engine with s-tronic that's currently being available in several countries ) ,
Achieves 0-60 miles in 6.2 seconds.
The TT 2.0 forward model achieves 0-60 miles in 6,6
while the S-tronic Forward model needs 6.4 seconds.
How is it possible for the Quattro 2.0 to achieve 0-60 in 6,2 seconds which is clearly 0,2 seconds faster, since having quattro means it's slightly heavier than the forward s-tronic model ?
Horsepower remains the same, 200 ps and the torque is also the same.
Am i missing sth here? Possibly the better grips due to Quattro results 0,2 seconds faster ?
Secondly, Anyone that ordered had a delivery yet? Im getting mine in a month from now... I'd like to know if the quattro badge is there, front and back , since the audi microsite doesn't clearly shows that.
Thanks in advance! :)
A: My guess is that the AWD will prevent you from smoking the tires and will put all the power to the ground. This is just a guess as I would think it would be the other way around...maybe a misprint.
Q: if the engine in the Audi TT is transverse, then how can it be quattro AWD?
it makes no sense. for it to be quattro the engine has to be mounted vertically.
The quattro transmision has to be vertically mounted to be considered quattro. some say it is the AWD that is quattro. but when you look at the facts the quattro is the specially designed transmision with two diffs. one that locks. and you cant put the "quattro" transmision in a transverse mounted car.
you guys dont get it!
DAMN!!!. i own 2 audi's. i know how AWD works. stop tellin me how it works. i know exactly how. (except for the TT)
A: Typically Audi uses a Torsen differential which is positioned in a fairly central position. As the TT has a fairly compact chassis and very limited space at the front and central positions, Audi went with a Holdex differential mounted more to the rear of the vehicle. It has been the norm for Audis to have a 50/50 power split front to rear (more recently this is closer 40/60) under normal driving conditions, with the power shifting between the front and the rear in varying degrees depending on where the tyres have the best traction (with other differentials shifting left to right). This means, conceivabley, that most Audi vehicles can be driven using only one driving wheel. Having to use the Haldex system in the TT means that under normal driving conditions the power is retained 100% to the front until either slippage or handling conditions dictate otherwise and power is shifted rearward.
Edit: BTW, I used to work for Audi and quattro ONLY applies to the AWD system and has never referred to either a transmission (gearbox) or engine.
Q: I bought an Audi TT last night and the @#$% clutch froze today in rush hour traffic in an intersection!!!!!?
Ok, so I purchased a 2001 Audi TT Quattro last night from a private seller and today after driving it for a few miles the clutch froze up and wouldn't go into any gear. As a side note last week my mechanic looked the car over throughly and this wasn't an issue. I called my mechanic as I was waving cars around me and he told me to turn the car off, place the car in gear and then start it but to be careful because it would take off on me.
It worked just as he said it would and I limped home without being able to stop other wise the car would die. Now I know a fair bit about classic automobiles but I've never had a car this new. Based on what I've read on the net it sounds like the hydraulics on my clutch went out but what does that mean to me? Is the clutch gone? Maybe out of fluid? What are the best/worse case senarios? Can this thing just happen all of a sudden or is it likely that the guy I bought it from had a good idea that this was an issue. Thanks for your help!!
A: Fluid leak most likely. If you're REALLY unlucky it could be a busted diaphragm spring in the clutch. Other possibles are a failed master or slave cylinder or a broken clutch actuator arm.
If it's a leak, your mechanic probably should have noticed it if he looked at it properly. Did he put it up on the lift and have a good close look around?
Q: audi tt oil and filter?
my 2001 audi tt quattro 1.8lt turbo calls for a sj grade of oil? None of the oil's in the store are that grade. I see sf or sc or cm but no sj. what oil can I use and do I need a audi oil filter or can I use a fram?
A: The 1.8T is one of the so called sludge engines, to prevent this it requires synthetic oil. It took VW a while but from 2004 onward this is the only oil recommended for this engine. If you can find European formula Mobil 1 "0-40" or Castrol Syntec "5-40" use that oil if not any Mobil 1 "5-30" will be ok. I would use a factory filter.
Q: i'm thinking of buying a 2002 audi tt 1.8t quattro & I was wondering what the 0-60 time was on one?
A: Look just buy a S4 2.7t comes stock with 6.0 sec 0-60 chip it with GIAC for 330hp and 400lb ft of torque get a 0-60 in 5 something seconds.
