Q: what is the difference between the AUDI A6 and the AUDI A8?
A: The Audi A6 is a smaller sedan ( mid size sedan) where the A8 is a larger sedan (full size sedan). The A6 has an in-line 6 cylinder engine, while the A8 has an 8 cylinder engine. The A8 is also heavier and more luxurious. The A8 is also a lot more expensive than the A6!
Q: I have just filled my Audi A8 up?
Please help I have just filled my Audi A8 up with petrol and its a diesel and yes I have driven it 3 miles. what damage have i done
A: You may have caught it in time... if the engine sounds OK
depends on how much petrol you put in / ratio of diesel already in tank ?
I would advise not to run it, but have it recovered and drained at a garage £££
If you had a quarter of a tank of diesel, and put in say a fivers worth of fuel before realise
I would just probably top up with diesel if its a large tank ?
if it was empty and you brimmed it.... GARAGE JOB £££
Q: Audi A8 Intake?
I have a D2 1998 Audi A8 Quattro 4.2 and I would love to know where to find a decent cold air intake. One to replace my stock air box and all the ducting to the engine, I've seen them on ebay made of aluminum for the 2.8 V6 A6s but my engine bay might be a different size I don't know but does anyone know where to get a good intake for my car?
A: I, on the other hand, would NOT recommend a K&N air filter.
First off, K&N air filters are oil gauze filters. When air rushes through the filter it will carry tiny oil particles with it. The oil will carry and stick on the Mass Air Flow sensor, which over time can damage it.
Secondly, a cold air intake may not be the best way to go. In some cases they do not add any horsepower at all, or so little you can not even tell the difference. In some applications a K&N air filter may actually reduce HP. Think of it this way, an oil gauze filter is just what the name implies, a layer of gauze soaked in oil. Take a wet wash rag, place it over your mouth and try to breathe. It doesn't work too well.
I would recommend an exhaust upgrade or ECM tune if you want to make some additional ponies, not a cold air intake.
I drive an 2004 Audi S4 by the way (B6).
Q: Which car for Zac Efron:'07 Audi A8 or '99 Oldsmobile Alero?...?
Why did Zac have to give up his beloved '99 Olds Alero(that his grandfather left him at his death) in favor of the '07 Audi A8 that the evil control freak Vanessa and the Walt Disney Company are now making him drive?
Zac still loves that Olds, and misses it, but to keep his GF-from-hell(and Disney) happy, he had to do it...so does he deserve to get his Olds back?
A: Zac should tell Disney(and Vanessa) to go to you-know-where, and try to get the Olds back!
Good luck to him!
Q: 1998 Audi A8 4.2 quattro with 100k miles?
what you guys think about Audi A8 with 100k miles 98' for $6500? does it sounds like a good steal?
carfax says it was registered as a corporate fleet, has anyone drove this car before?
A: Make sure the tranny has been redone. If it has not it is just a matter of time before it needs it. Also make sure the timing belt was done at 90k. If it has not the the 6500 you will pay will become 7800 easily afte the maintenance is done. If you need parts for it check out http://www.highspeedautoparts.com they have really good prices on A8 parts

Thanks for any answers =]
A: I don't know what is it MCH-8, and what phone compatible with it, but I know that only dealer can realy help you, cause they have an accessories catalog in which you could find information about compatible accessory to connect your mobile phone. I hope it helps you.
Q: Audi A8 or Mercedes S500?
Which would you rather buy?:
Audi A8
Mercedes S500
A: This should be pretty obvious. Mercedes is a great car. however. think about quality. mercedes has been losing quality over the years and the price has just been going up up up. the mercedes is built as well and the price is just too much for too little. the A8 has a better engine, better quality in all areas and its just a nicer looking car as well. its safer and it has all wheel drive. and if im not mistaken its cheaper. and of course if you have the money, the S8 is a blast. the technology in the mercedes is up to date but confusing. the technology in the audi is very up to date and my seven year old sister could manage it.
the Audi is the winner here. clearly. good luck.
Q: would a audi a8 4.2 tranny be hard to rebuild?
i have a little experience with mechanics (none with trannys). but i was going to get a good repair manual. would this be a extreamly hard job?
A: O yeah, just get a used one out of a wreck if you were thinking of buying an A8 with a blown tranny.
Q: ok I'm torn between the new mercedes s-class and the audi A8....help?
I knida got a hinch of what I might be buying, but I just wanted other peoples opinion...and please dont say go for the 7-series cause thats just a piece of crap.
A: Those are 2 great options...My choice would be the S-class from Mercedes. When you hear that someone has a Mercedes there are a few words that come to mind.Class, professionalism, power, respect, prestige, and fun.For Audi its usually...professionalism,power,and unrealiable.
Q: 1998 Audi A8 V8 4.2 5spd... supercharge or turbo?
I want to supercharge my 1998 A8. Should i go for a Turbo? What kind of supercharger ? where to order the kit? Shell i get involved in this project? Estimate cost. Would i be better of trading it for a turbo VW, a GTI or Jetta or what is your hint? I need a fast "toy" but already have the A8 witch i love.
A: Great car, but generally in terms performance additions there is not a huge aftermarket.
A turbocharger, and a supercharger both serve same purpose and provide equivalent power increase when they are installed at the same boost levels.
Generally for low boost installations (which yours would be) a supercharger tends to be more effective as its lighter, runs cooler and usually is less expensive. Installation costs are certainly much lower.
Generally power delivery from a supercharger engages earlier and is more linear than a turbo.
Turbo's are well suited to higher boost installations or where there is limited engine compartment space or where a standard application is not available and a custom set up has to be fabricated using a "universal" turbine.
Your car is ideal for extra power, but performance does not come cheap.
Motodyne does have, I think a bolt on installation available for your car:
http://www.motodyne.com/frames/4.2LSC.html
this provides - at engagement a 50% increase over stock hp.
By reversing the formula for hp increase from forced induction I calculate this as a typical mild boost (for stock installation) of about 7
psi.
The addition of 125hp would make the car seriously quick.
Cost of the kit is approx. $10,000, plus unless you can do the installation yourself, shop & labor time at a performance shop.
All in with a pro-tune to reset the engine's management system I would expect you are looking at 3days labor.
Lastly bcause of the extreme power delivery of forced induction (regardless of supercharger or turbo) the existing engine may have to be upgraded to handle heat and extra stresses involved.
At the very least, performance (forged) bolts and possibly a build out of the bottom end with forged internals. This is hard to estimate and is dependent on the extent to which the stock engine has to be prepared to provide for margin of safety.
A turbo installation, all in I expect will be the same or a little more (less for required parts, far more for labor and custom fabrication).
I recommend, you get on an Audi owners forum, lots of owners have gone where you are considering going - and are happy to share information/recommendations.Perhaps here
http://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/175795.phtml
Hope this assists with your decision (personally I would enhance your existing car vs. buying smaller VW product....but thats really your call).
regards, {engineer (owner of past/present supercharged cars, fan of forced induction)}.
Q: i want to find the location of the aircon refill pipes on audi a8?
A: Have an A6 myself, and there is one fitting on the right side of the condenser, and one on the back of the compressor. Unfortunately, neither of them are a standard size, and both are on the hi-pressure side of the system. Just another reason Audi's are a real swine to work on. There are a few shops that will have an adapter for this fitting, but have to make some calls, and be very specific.
Q: Where is the fuse box located on a 98 Audi Quattro A8?
A: underneath the foot well (passengers side i believe) carpet there is a screw that you can remove and the carpet pulls up. i don't have an A8( i have the A6) but i believe this is where they are on the A8 D2.
Q: Im interested on buying a new car. And the BMW M5 and the Audi A8 are my options.Which one is better?
A: Well, they aren't really in the same class or for the same purpose so a bit hard to compare. The A8 is definitely much bigger then the M5 and a little less expensive with the 4.2L V8. The A8 also has a 12 cylinder 6L engine available for $30K more. The A8 can't compare in raw performance to the M5 with its 4.2L engine. However, both cars are super nice and deserve a test drive. I would say go with the S8 over the A8 if you are getting the Audi. No matter what car you choose to spend your $100K+ annual salary on I hope you enjoy it. Oh, I hope there are no potholes where you live or you'll be spending plenty of time at the tire shop with the 35 profile tires these cars come standard with.
Q: Which car has the better repair record: The Audi A8 or the BMW 750i?
A: Don't buy either. Buy the BMW M5 if you want the best of all worlds. If you are cheeper, buy the Audi A8.
Q: odd shaking accelerating in 98 audi a8 quattro?
Ok so I just had the head gaskets changed in my a8 and the tranny is acting up slightly which i knew about but the mechanic said he saw the rubber on an engine mount was worn badly so he removed the rubber only and the spark plug connecters are cracking slightly i guess so it could possibly start missing at anytime. the problem is that the car shakes violently after its going down the road and only at low rpms when i press the gas. example: I take off gently and get to about 40-60mph put it in 4th or 5th gear (tiptronic automanual tranny) and when the rpms are just below 2000 the more i press the gas without shifting the harder it shakes, when i coast its smooth as can be again or if i shift down and raise the rpms its fine again. could this be teh engine mounts missing rubber? thats my best guess. ive been told its maybe the tranny but thats not the case im sure by the way it feels it cant just be the tranny doing that out of nowhere. maybe the timing?
A: It's probably mostly the engine mount. The shaking is probably the engine trying to flop over because of the broken mount.
