just changed a steering rack on an audi a3 2 litre tdi 53 plate and now the power steering will only work in one direction.

The model has a fantastic motor/ Engine, but the rear seat bank is too hard and high and uncomfort one . For family purposes I will never recommend you a A3. What about a passat Combi (station wagon)?

I have recently purchased an engine to install into my 1993 VW corrado. The engine is a 3.2 from an Audi A3 (engine code BUB), it came complete with an ECU and all wiring but the keys and transponder were not included. I didnt realise that they were required, is there a way to get around/disable the Immobaliser?

A: No, you're stuck without satisfying the computer on this one. Need to chat with your oh so helpful Audi dealer. Most likely you need at least 1 original style key and re-cal the immobilizer unit. Once the new motor is in, drag it up there and don't forget to bring your wallet.

Q: Ive just ordered my new 1.6 Audi A3 Sport, when it arrives, how high's it safe to rev the engine while driving?
I had a test drive in one yesterday and was revving it between 4500RPM and 5000RPM, I take it that this is not safe for a new engine? How many miles will it take until it is run in?

A: The key to proper engine break-in is pretty simple. here are some guidelines. 1: apply varying engine loading for the first month of driving. Avoid using a constant rpm and throttle position. This will ensure that every moving part in the engine gets exposed to the engines potential for power output. Your engine will be happiest later on in life this way. 2: change the oil and oil filter strictly at 2000 mile intervals for the first three changes. A new engine produces alot of metal shavings during the break-in period because all the parts are being worn to proper tolerance. 3: Don't exceed 2/3 the maximum RPM for the first 6000 miles. Use full throttle occasionally, but don't rev it too high for the first few months. These three guidelines should be all you need.

A: Look at consumer reports for reliability and maintenance issues. I have never been steered wrong with their information. There are costs of ownership with all vehicles. I drove a Volvo for several years...I still like the older models, not so certain about newer ones....that being said... Volvo is an expensive car to own. I dealt with dealers and independent shops..it doesn't really matter. I know nothing about Audi. I know you get the discount with Audi and Volvo. If I were in the market for a european car...I would look at BMW, they are offering some attractive deals with free maintenance for a certain period. That has to be weighed against the type of driving you do on a daily basis. The more miles= more upkeep vs your discount. happy driving. just an opinion,
